Structural behaviour of CFRP strengthened beam-column connections under monotonic and cyclic loading

Welded beam-column connections may be vulnerable to failure under cyclic loading conditions. These might require strengthening resist static and loads as they exhibit inadequate capacity due the design errors or material properties degradation because of severe environmental effects an increase in service loads. With this mind, a series full-scale experiments have been conducted investigate behaviour bare strengthened welded both monotonic large-displacement loading. Carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP) is used present study along with epoxy adhesive bonding material. The experimental conclusively showed benefits CFRP composites improve performance loadings. Under loading, ultimate moment capacity, stiffness, dissipation energy ductility improved by CFRP. Additionally, improvement hysteresis behaviour, higher stiffness compared their counterparts. Moreover, experimentally obtained capacities match reasonably well theoretically predicted capacities.
